My 2018 Bookish Goals

Hello fellow bookworms! Happy New Year to you all, and may this year be filled with joy, laughter and luck for you. Today I wanted to share with some of my bookish goals for this year. I don’t have too many bookish-related goals this year because I’ll be focusing on my last year of high school, and I don’t want to stress myself too much with something that is supposed to be a hobby.

Anyways, my first goal is to read at least 20 books in the year. With school looming over me, I don’t know how much reading I will be able to get done, so I’m setting a small goal. Last year I read 101 books (click here to see what I read in 2017), which is the most I’ve ever read in a year, and though I have a slight urge to do better, I don’t want to pressure myself.

With that said, I also want to aim to read at least once a week. I know a lot of people read everyday, but during school, I find if I read, I’ll end up procrastinating school work. So once a week seems reasonable. I’ll probably read a lot on the weekends anyways.

Towards the end of last year, I slowly withdrew from social media. That was mostly because my anxiety kicked in, and I kept thinking that people got annoyed with me around or didn’t want me around. So, in December, I slowly tried to get back into Twitter and bookstagram. I’ve also lacked motivation to post, so who knows what I’ll do with social media this year. But I’m hoping to post on bookstagram at least once a week (I want to do every two days, but I forget to post sometimes, so this makes it more achievable). And hopefully I’ll be able to get back into Twitter.

In relation to my blog, I have no idea what will happen with it this year. I’m hoping to post twice a month, one post being a monthly wrap up and another being something else, such as a tag, discussion or review. But no promises haha because blogging is time-consuming.

In 2018, I’m hoping to buy less books than I did in 2017 (which I hauled 74-ish books in 2017). This is mostly because I want to focus on reading all the books on my physical shelf, so I can get rid of the ones I don’t want and clean up my shelves. I also want to use my library more. I did use it a lot at the start of 2017, but slowly stopped towards the end of 2017. In 2018, I’ll be doing community service in the library, so I’ll probably be there a lot and borrowing books… hopefully I’ll read them haha.

Anyways, I think that’s all I had in mind. I know a lot of these are very vague and loose, but that’s so I don’t feel guilty for not accomplishing them and so it’s actually achievable for me.

Do you have any bookish goals this year? How many books are you hoping to read this year? Wishing you all the best for the new year xx
