2018 MID-YEAR BOOK FREAK OUT TAG

I can’t believe we’re half way through the year – well more than half way now. I wasn’t planning on doing this post, but then decided I should because I’m low on blog posts and because I haven’t done a tag in a while. I also did this tag last year, and enjoyed it so I might as well do it again. This tag was created by Chami from IsThatChami and Ely from Elyjayne.

And without further ado, here is my post:

BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2018?

This question is so unfair *cries*. In all honesty, my faves this year have been rereads ahah, BUT I did give 5 stars to The Gentlemen’s Guide To Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee, Autoboyography by Christina Lauren and Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman.

And in case you’re curious, my other best rereads included: Seven Tears At High Tide, Simon VS The Homo sapiens Agenda and the first three books in the Shatter Me series.

BEST SEQUEL YOU READ IN 2018?

Not Your Villain is probably my favourite read of the year (not that I can actually choose, but it’s pretty high up there). YOU ALL NEED TO READ THIS BEAUTIFUL SERIES BECAUSE IT’S AMAZING AND DIVERSE AND SUPER CUTE!! This was also my first read of 2018

SEQUEL THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR THAT YOU HAVEN’T READ YET YOU WANT TO?

RESTORE ME!! I WANT TO READ THIS BOOK SO BADLY!! But I hear it ends on a cliffhanger and I also don’t know which edition to get so I haven’t gotten around to it.

MOST ANTICIAPTED RELEASES FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR?

The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats by Mackenzi Lee and What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera! I can’t wait to read these both, I’m most excited for Lady’s Guide because Felicity is awesome!! And I loves Gentlemen’s Guide so much!

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?

I’ve actually had a lot of of 2-3 star reads this year, and it’s making me fall into a slump. But I think the biggest disappointment would have to be Empress Of A Thousand Skies, which I DNFed. I couldn’t push myself past the 100 page mark and most people said that it wouldn’t get better so I decided to just DNF it before I fell into a huge slump.

BIGGEST SURPRISE?

More Than This by Patrick Ness was definitely a big surprise! Especially since I listened to it on audiobook, and I’m not that big of a fan with audiobooks. But I ended up loving the story and Patrick Ness’ writing – I’ll definitely be reading more of his works in the future.

FAVOURITE NEW TO ME AUTHOR?

I’m gonna have to say Patrick Ness and Akemi Dawn Bowman! I read books by the them for the first time this year and LOVED them! I’ll definitely be reading more of their books in the future!

NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?

I actually don’t think I have any yet. So pass, hehe

NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER?

  • Felicity Montague from Gentlemen’s Guide
  • Okay also Monty Montague and Percy from Gentlemen’s Guide too
  • Joey from A Thousand Perfect Notes (Also Beck and August too, but Joey’s my favee)
  • Claire/Claude from The Baker Thief
  • And Baz from Carry On

Those are some of my new faves that I can think of right now

BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?

I normally don’t cry in books, but Fruits Basket Volume 1 and Not If I See You First made me cry (okay I sobbed whilst reading Fruits Basket, it was so cute and heartwarming and I just want to devour all the volumes)

BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?

This is probably cheating but Seven Tears At High Tide made me happy!! But Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card also made me happy, and it wasn’t a reread hehe.

FAVOURITE BLOG POST YOU’VE DONE THIS YEAR?

I have lots of favourite blog posts this year, but one of my absolute favourites was the My Favourite Villains post, because I got to gush about my fave evil villains hehe.

MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE GOTTEN THIS YEAR?

This is hard, but I’m going to have to say Godsgrave and Sky In The Deep

WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?

Okay, here’s the list of books I want to read by the end of the year:

  • Sky In The Deep
  • The Lies of Locke Lamora
  • Lady Midnight
  • The Poppy War
  • Children of Blood And Bone
  • The Rose & The Dagger
  • Vicious

And that’s it. If you want to do this tag, consider yourself tag. Also, link your posts below because I’d love to read your answers too!

Have you done this tag? What some of your favourite reads so far this year? What do you want to read by the end of the year?

  1. I also read The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue this year, and it is one of my new favorites as well! I also finally got around to reading the Six of Crows duology and absolutely loved it. I’ve also been looking forward to the Becky Albertalli + Adam Silvera team up since they are both favorite authors, so learning that that book comes out later this year kind of made my day! Great picks!
