FIRST WRAP UP AND HAUL OF 2019: JANUARY WRAP UP & HAUL

Hello my lovely friends! I can’t believe the first month of 2019 is already over! January has mostly been a month where I try to get myself back into a routine of reading, blogging and writing as well as a month where I try out different hobbies. Overall, it was a pretty productive month which has allowed me to set some year long goals.

For those of you curious, I’ve started biking again (which I really enjoy and missed) as well as started to take evening walks which is really relaxing, plus the sky is so pretty in summer! I’ve also begun to bake which I find soothing (though I’m not very good at it, but it’s about having fun, right?) One of my goals is to also learn basic Hiragana and to learn to speak basic Japanese, because I love their culture and want to travel to Japan one day soon!

Now onto the actual book wrap up. This month, I read [8] books. Technically, I read 7 books and DNFed 1. These are the books I read and my ratings (I’ve also linked my reviews for some of them, but some of them have reviews scheduled for later on in February):

What If It’s Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera ★★★✩✩

American Panda by Gloria Chao ★★★✩✩

↣ Air Awakens by Elise Kova ✩✩✩✩✩ (DNF)

Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire ★★★✩✩ (actual rating: 3.5/5)

↣ Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Vol. 5 ★★★★✩

↣ Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen M. McManus ★★★✩✩ (actual rating: 3.5/5)

↣ Heartstopper by Alice Oseman ★★★★★

↣ The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang ★★★★✩

↣ Star Wars: Darth Maul – Death Sentence by Tom Taylor ★★★✩✩

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

If you remember from my goals post, I wanted to limit myself to buying 4 books per month. I was sent two books for review from Hachette Australia, which we’re The Girl King by Mimi Yu and Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. I also bought Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Volume 5 by CLAMP and read it. IT ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER AND THE NEXT VOLUME DOESN’T COME OUT UNTIL MAY. WHY? *eternal sobbing*

Let's talk

How was your January? Was it productive? How many books did you read, and what was your favourite? Mine was probably Heartstopper. Did you haul any books? Which ones are your most anticipated?

love-stephanie
