MINI REVIEWS OF RECENT MANGAS: CARDCAPTORS SAKURA VOL. 5 |VAMPIRE KNIGHT VOL. 1-5 | FRUITS BASKET VOL. 3

Hellooo friends! I hope you’ve all been well. I’m bringing another set of mini reviews of some manga I’ve recently read. I love reading manga, and have recently been in the mood to binge read a bunch of them. So be prepared for future reviews of other manga I read hehe.

Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card Vol. 5 Cover

TITLE: Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Vol. 5

AUTHOR: CLAMP

PAGES: 160

GENRE: Manga: Fantasy

PUBLICATION DATE: 20th November 2018

MY RATING: 4/5 stars

Cardcaptor Sakura is an anime that has a special place in my heart as it was one of the first anime I watched in my childhood, and has the sweetest, most pure cast of characters that I will protect. So when Clear Card came out, I obviously was going to watch the anime and read the manga. And it did not disappoint! I loved every moment in this volume (I won’t go into any specific details) and the relationship that Sakura has with her family and friends, is something that I strive to have in my life. The story is a little predictable as I did come to some conclusions that were revealed at the end, but my love for this series isn’t diminished. BUT THAT ENDING HAS ME CRYING. THIS VOLUME ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER. And the next volume doesn’t release until May, and I don’t know how I’m going to last that long.

But I highly recommend this manga series (though you should probably start with Cardcaptor Sakura Volume 1) because it’s cute, has magic, demonstrates strong family bonds and healthy friendships (no girl on girl hate here).

TITLE: Vampire Knight Vol. 1-5

AUTHOR: Matsuri Hino

GENRE: Manga: Fantasy, Paranormal

MY RATING: 4/5 stars

I actually enjoyed the first five volumes in this manga series, and thought that the art was really nice. Although the plot is a little slow, I found a lot of things to be continuously repeated over and over which made is harder to love this series. Also vampire sucking blood is also depicted as erotic in this series, and all I can think of is that it’s probably painful not erotic ahaha, but yeah. Those points were the downside of this series. I don’t know how I feel about Yuki, like she’s a sweet girl, but she’s naive and too trusting and she’d let the people she cares about to hurt and betray her and she’d still forgive them. Though she’s also protective and loyal, and those are her redeeming points. Poor Zero though, he’s been suffering for 4-5 years and he’s still suffering. *sobs eternally for him* Overall, I did enjoy the series so far and will probably continue and finish the rest of the volumes.

Fruits Basket 3.jpgTITLE: Fruits Basket Vol. 3

AUTHOR: Natsuki Takaya

PAGES: 392

GENRE: Manga: Contemporary, Fantasy

PUBLICATION DATE: 26th July 2016

MY RATING: 4.5/5 stars

I adored this manga so much, and am loving the series! You all should check this manga series out because it’s so cute and fluffy and humorous. The art is lovely and is easy to read the story and emotions of the characters. This book made me cry. Honestly, I shed so much tears over this volume because of how cute and sad and emotional it was. I read it in two sittings and overall had a fun experience. 10/10 would recommend the Fruits Basket manga series and will most definitely be continuing with the rest of the volumes (as soon as I buy them ahah)

Let's talk

Have you read any of these manga? Are you thinking of picking them up? Let me know what you think about these if you’ve read them!
